A woman in her 70s has suffered serious injuries on Burlington Street.

The woman was hit during a road traffic collision around 3pm today, West Yorkshire Police confirmed.

Paramedics, police and forensic teams were on the scene - parked next to Yorkshire Fried Chicken just off Queen's Road.

A spokeswoman from the police said: "Police were called at 14:54 today to reports of a serious road traffic collision on Burlington Street, Halifax.

"There was a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

"Emergency services attended the scene.

"A woman in her 70s suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision.

"Road closures were put in place at the time of the collision but the roads reopened again at 16:13pm.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
